From the Mountains of Calinog

I first encountered these stories while living in the mountains of Calinog, Iloilo, where I spent three years traveling across Panay, speaking with tradition bearers, and collecting fragments of tales that have shaped Filipino identity for generations. My wife, descended from the very people chronicled in the Maragtas legend, and I are committed to passing these stories down to our children—ensuring they remain connected to this part of their heritage, even growing up an ocean away from the land where these tales were born.
